Common use

Melacare Forte Cream is used to manage moderate to severe melasma (dark spots on the skin). It contains hydroquinone, tretinoin, and mometasone furoate, which work together to lighten dark patches, reduce inflammation, and promote skin cell turnover. Apart from its primary use, this cream also reduces inflammation and promotes healthy skin cell turnover, which helps alleviate uneven skin texture. Thus, it significantly improves skin appearance and health.

Dosage and direction

Here's how you should use Melacare Forte Cream: Ensure your skin's affected areas are clean and dry before you apply the cream. Apply a thin layer of the cream only on the affected areas. Use it once daily at bedtime or as directed by your doctor. Do not wash off for at least 6 hours after application. Remember to apply sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher in the daytime and reapply every 2 hours. Avoid contact with your eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes while applying this cream.

Precautions

Consult your doctor before using this medicine in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Benzoyl Peroxide Preparations: These skin treatments, often used for acne, can irritate when used alongside Melacare Forte Cream. Specific examples include PanOxyl and Acnecide.
Alcohol-based Topical Products: Using products that contain alcohol while using Melacare Forte Cream may increase skin dryness and irritation. These products could be certain toners or hand sanitizers.

Contraindications

This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known allergies to hydroquinone, mometasone, or tretinoin.

Possible side effect

Melacare Forte Cream may have the following common side effects: Stinging sensation; Burning sensation; Redness of the skin; Dryness; Itching.

Drug interaction

Topical preparations containing benzoyl peroxide: These may cause skin irritation if used concurrently with Melacare Forte Cream.
Alcohol-based topical medications: They can cause excessive dryness and peeling when used alongside Melacare Forte Cream.
Soaps and abrasives: They can lead to increased skin sensitivity when used with Melacare Forte Cream.

Missed dose

If you forget to apply Melacare Forte Cream at the scheduled time, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for the next application, skip the missed one and return to your regular schedule. Never increase your dose without consulting your doctor.

Overdose

If you accidentally apply more Melacare Forte Cream than recommended, it may result in symptoms such as skin redness, itching, or dryness. If these symptoms persist or worsen, make sure to inform your doctor.

Storage

Store Melacare Forte Cream below 25°C, and do not freeze the cream. Protect the cream from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use to prevent exposure to air. Keep the cream out of reach of children. Always check the expiry date before use.
